Lorol Cleghorn, 1914-2001

A funeral service for Lorol Cleghorn, 86, of Spencer, will be held today, June 2, 2001, 1:30 p.m. at Warner Chapel in Spencer. The Rev. Gary Nims will officiate. Mr. Cleghorn died at St. Luke Lutheran Home on Wednesday, May 30, 2001.

Casket bearers will be Roy Medsker Jr., Chris Cleghorn, Jerry Poock, Tom Searcy, Grant Cleghorn and Larry Wegner. Interment will be at Riverside. Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.

Lorol Winfield Cleghorn, the son of Winfield and Olga (Geriach) Cleghorn, was born Nov. 21, 1914, in Gaza. He received his early education in Gaza, and later graduated from Paulina High School. Following his graduation, he attended Iowa State University.

On July 18, 1939, he married Hazel Odor in Park Rapids, Minn. Following their marriage they lived in the Spencer area where he worked for Arnold Motors as a salesman from 1943 to 1975. While living in Spencer, he was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Evening Shade Lodge #312 A.F. and A.M. and the Spencer Area Shrine Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and two brothers.

Mr. Cleghorn is survived by his wife; two sons: Gary Cleghorn and Ann Smith of Okobogi, and John and Anne Cleghorn of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; other relatives and friends.
