A funeral service for Patricia Sperry, 74, of Spencer, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2002, at Warner Funeral Home Chapel in Spencer. The Rev. Van Tussell will lead the service. Visitation will begin at noon on Friday, July 5, with the family present from 7-8:30 p.m.

Casket bearers will be Joshua Dokter, Travis Kendall-Sperry, Lonney Sangl, Joe Meyer, Kirby Schmidt and Adam Dokter.

Honorary casket bearers will be Walt Geeting, Chuch and Mary Clifton, Mark and Sue Wedel, M. Peter Hart, Nels Ellsworth and Becky Stulen.

Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer. Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.

Patricia Jean Sperry, the daughter of Roy W. and Lottie (Miller) Fenske, was born Sept. 28, 1927, in Spencer. She was raised and educated in Spencer, graduating from Spencer High School in 1945 and from Cottey College in 1948. She moved to Des Moines to work for Equitable Insurance Company of Iowa.

On Aug. 19, 1950, she married G. Joe Sperry. They moved to Spencer in July 1954. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Spencer and served over 14 years on the flower commission. She worked with the Sr. Pilgrim Fellowship for many years and was a member of the January Guild. Mrs. Sperry was a past leader for the Jefferson School Cub Scouts and Brownie Troop and a past member of the Clay County Garden Club. For several years she was employed at Books 'n Things in Spencer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Survivors include her husband; two sons and their wives; Gregory J. and Nancy Sperry of Arlington, Texas, and David W. Sperry and Karen Kendall-Sperry of Dublin, Ohio; one daughter and her husband, Barbara and Galen Dokter of Baily, Colo.; three grandsons; four granddaughters; one sister-in-law, Fobi Fenske, of Garland, Texas; other relatives and friends.
