Alonzo Marsh passed away at his home In Dickens early Saturday morning, July 1, 1922, at the ripe old age of eighty-seven years, four months and twenty days. Death was due to old age and its complications. Alonzo Marsh was born in Anson, Maine, February 11, 1835. Ho was a soldier between the years of 1861 and 1865 and won distinction honors in the battle at Stone River, thus developing the traits of character that always brought honor to his name and gave him friends no matter where his lot was cast. He moved from Anson, Maine, his birthplace, to Wisconsin, in 1865 and in 1884 settled on a farm south of Dickens. For the past twenty years he had been a resident of Dickens, where his life had been well spent for every good cause. Mr. Marsh was married in 1865 to Miss Emma Rowley of Wautoma, Wisconsin, and to this union was born one son, Ernest Marsh. Mrs. Marsh passed away on September 24, 1868 and Mr. Marsh was married again in October, 1869, to Mrs. Elizabeth Gustin at Wautoma, Wisconsin. He had been in remarkable health until a few months ago. The deceased had been affiliated with the Masons for over fifty years and was a member of the Spencer Masonic lodge and the G. A. R. Post of Spencer. Mrs. Marsh passed away at their home In Dickens November 10, 1917.

The deceased leaves to mourn their loss his son, Ernest Marsh, of Canton, Ohio, and two step daughters, Mrs. W. J. Moore and Miss Inez Gustin, both of Dickens. Since the death of her mother in 1917, Miss Gustin had been keeping the home for her stepfather in Dickens.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, July 3, at two o'clock at the home. Rev. W. H. Nye, pastor of the Congregational church, officiated and member of the Masonic order also were in charge. The remains were laid to rest in the Dickens cemetery.
