Eite M. Roskens, 1911-2006

Eite M. Roskens, the son of Martin and Anna Bleeker Roskens, was born January 2, 1911 in Everly, Iowa. He attended a rural school in Waterford Twnp and Everly High School until he was needed by his father to help on the family farm.

On December 25, 1932, Eite married Rosetta Pelley in Spencer. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm South of Spencer for one year and then moved to a farm Southwest of Milford, where they lived for 34 years. They moved to a home in Fostoria in 1967, but Eite continued to farm the remainder of his working years. Eite was a third generation member of Everly Reformed Church in which he served as both Elder and Deacon. He was a supporter of the 4-H program as well as a leader many years. He was also active in Farm Bureau and Farm programs.

Eite passed away January 8, 2006, one week after celebrating his 95th birthday, at Northshire Residence where he had resided for the past 3 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosetta; son, Jim and three brothers: Herman, Harold and Evert.

He is survived by one son and his wife, Jerry and Vierlyn of Bettendorf, IA; one daughter and her husband, Jean and Les Kiel of Lake Havasu City, AZ; one daughter-in-law, Della VanderBroek of Milford, IA; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; two sisters: Marie Wood of Spencer and Mildred Klett of Everly; other relatives and many friends

Interment in North Lawn cemetery
