Olive Frances Endicott, the daughter of Oscar William and Clara F. Hanson Derry, was born August 26, 1920 in Dickens, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Dickens, Iowa, where she received her education, graduating from Dickens High School.
Olive married Orville James Endicott, Jr. on December 13, 1944 in Dickens, Iowa. Following their marriage, they farmed near Lake Center Township near Dickens. In 1970, she moved to Spencer. While living in Spencer, she continued her job as a bookkeeper at Home Lumber, Lumberman’s Millwork and Spencer Lumber, until her retirement in 1990 after 52 years of employment. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. She was also previously active in the American Legion Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose. She loved to golf, travel and enjoyed bowling.
Olive passed away at the Milford Nursing Center in Milford, Iowa on Monday, February 6, 2006 at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orville, Jr. and her son, Orville James III; one brother, Bill Derry.
She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Derner of Milford, IA; two grandchildren: Kristy and Jeff; one great-granddaughter, Lily; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
