Mrs. Lucy L. L. Mack, aged 80 years, 6 months and 13 days and a resident of Spencer for the past forty years died Friday at one o'clock p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles S. Weaver on West Fourth street. Mrs. Mack suffered a severe shock June 15 when she fell and broke her hip. She was unable to rally from the effects of this shock and had been bedfast for the past seven weeks.

Lucy Barry Mack was the daughter of Don C. and Eliza Barry and was born in Baraboo, Wisconsin, January 22, 1842. Her parents were among the substantial families of the neighborhood in which they lived and where their daughter grew to womanhood. Her marriage to Squire Mack took place at Hillsborough, Wisconsin, on March 23, 1857, and a few years later Mr. and Mrs. Mack decided to try their fortunes in a western country and so Iowa became the choice for their new home. They came here with a team of oxen and Mrs. Mack was particularly pleased to recall the various incidents experienced on this journey. The last camping place before they reached Clay county was near Estherville. However, the first home was in O'Brien county, the homestead farm being a few miles from Sutherland. They made their home for a few years here and came to Spencer to live about forty years ago.

Mr. and Mrs. Mack became the parents of two daughters, Mrs. Florence E. Weaver and Mrs. Fannie Hagerty, deceased. Mr. Mack died July 19, 1912, a few months after the death of Mrs. Hagerty, which occurred November 11, 1911. Besides Mrs. Weaver, Mrs. Mack is survived by two grandchildren, Mrs. J .R. Wilkins of Delavan, Wisconsin, who was formerly Miss Winifred Hagerty, and James M. Hagerty of this city.

She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Almira S.W. Munger, and Mrs. Helen H.E. Allbee of Peterson, Mrs. Alice Diggins of Spencer, Edwin A. Barry of Sutherland and Edgar A. Barry of Des Moines.

Mrs. Mack was a charter member of the Church of Christ of Spencer. She was a splendid woman and was held in the highest esteem by her numerous friends. In her own home she was all that the name "Mother" implies and to add more would simply be a recital of so many words.

The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Weaver home on West Fourth street, in charge of the Rev. J.P. Thomas, pastor of the Baptist church, Rev. Hurst of the Church of Christ being out of the city. Interment was made in the Riverside cemetery.

The following relatives and friend from out of the city were in attendance at the funeral services: Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Cobb, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Allbee and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Barry of Sutherland; Mrs. J. R. Wilkens of Delavan, Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Munger, Mr. and Mrs. Warner Munger, Mrs. Helen Albee and daughter, Miss Cora, of Peterson; Mr. Charles Smith and daughter, Miss Nedra of Sanborn; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cobb of Eldora; E. A. Barry, Des Moines; Mrs. Washington Powers, Milford; Mrs. George Tracy, Tracy, Minnesota, Mrs. Ed Bailey, Mrs. John Lewis and Mrs. Adaline Hagerty of Terril.
