Harold Clare Lady, the son of John Rufus and Jennie Mae Goetschius Lady, was born on January 13, 1904, in Storm Lake, Iowa. He received his education in Sulfur Springs, Iowa and it was here he graduated in 1923. After his graduation, he worked in a grocery store in Storm Lake for several years. He then came to Spencer in 1926.

Harold married Grace Irene Zahrt in Nov. 19, 1927 in Spencer, Iowa. While in Spencer, he was a pilot and had worked for Clarence Cockburn at the Spencer Airport for about 10 years. Harold was a painter most of the time he was in Spencer.

Mr. Lady died at the Spencer hospital on Nov. 30, 1978, at the age of 74 years, 10 months and 17 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Grace on June 25, 1978; two brothers, William Dewey and James Emil. Harold is survived by one brother, Rufus Vale of Dent, MN.; two sisters, Mrs. Naomi Lillian Plitsch of Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Phoebe Esther Thayer of Omaha, Nebraska, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
