Dennis Clayton Allen, son of Arthur L. and Alice L. Jones Allen was born June 13, 1920 in Grand River, Iowa and passed away November 21, 2002 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa of complications following heart surgery. He was 82 years of age.
He received his education in the Clarke County Schools and graduated from Osceola High School. Dennis was a veteran of World War II and served in the 808 Tank Destroyer Battalion.
He was united in marriage to Helen Catherine Saddoris July 3, 1943 at Osceola, Iowa and three children blessed this union; Peggy, Mike and David.
His working career included owner/operator of the Saddoris & Allen Hatchery, a Carpenter, Postal Clerk and Rural Mail Carrier for the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 1976.
Dennis was a member of the Calvary Bible Church in Osceola, Iowa, He had served on the Extension Council and the Clarke County Fair Board. He supported his children, grandchildren and nephew for 40 years by being active in 4-H Activities. His hobbies included fishing, traveling, woodworking, gardening and raising livestock.
His gentle manner and love for his family will forever remain in his loved ones hearts.. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law; two brothers, Don and Olin Allen; and two brothers-in-law, James Boggs and Keith Snyder. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Helen of Osceola, Iowa; Daughter, Peggy Allen of Ankeny, Iowa; two sons, Mike Allen and wife Gayle of Osceola, Iowa, David Allen and wife Deanna of Osceola, Iowa; Grandchildren, Megan Hartman of Augusta, GA, Travis Hartman and wife Tonia of St. Charles, Missouri and Alena Allen of Osceola, Iowa; great granddaughter, Hayley Hartman of St. Charles, Missouri; Sister, Uvonne Boggs of Urbandale, Iowa; Uncle, Sherman Allen of Des Moines, Iowa; Brother-in-law, Harold Saddoris and wife Carol of Osceola, Iowa; Sister-in-law, Louise Hart and Donna Saddoris of Osceola, Iowa; Brother-in-law, Stanley Saddoris and wife Nancy of Eden Prarie, MN; Sister-in-law, Martha Snyder of West Des Moines, Iowa as well as other relatives and a host of friends.
Services for Mr. Saddoris were Nov. 26 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Pastor Ted Welch officiating.
Casket barriers were Travis Hartman, Randy Hart, Ben Saddoris, Merrill Frost, Mark Snyder and Craig Saddoris. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery at Osceola
