John L. Millard (1826-1872)

Born in 1826 in Washington County, Ohio, his parents were John Millard Jr. and Sarah (Sallie) Hall. He died on 15 June, 1872 in Liberty, Clarke County, Iowa. He was buried in Liberty Cemetery, Clarke County, Iowa.

He served in the military in Civil War Company D, 39th Iowa Infantry. At age 36 enlisted August 13, 1862, as Third Sergeant and he was discharged from service on June 5, 1865, Washington, D. C.

John, a farmer, was elected from Clarke County to serve as representative in the Iowa House in 1860, before the Civil War broke out and again in 1870.

He was married to Eliza A. Scott in 1851. Eliza was born in 1834. She died on 25 May 1869 in Liberty Cemetery, Clarke County, Iowa.
