Funeral services were held at the Miller Funeral Home Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. for Spencer Lincoln Crew, who passed away at the local hospital last Friday. He had been in failing health for several years. Rev. Frank Jacobs pastor of the First Methodist church officiated at the service and burial was in Maple Hill cemetery.

Spencer Lincoln Crew, son of Abner J. and Elizabeth Crew was born Feb. 25th, 1864 and passed away May 28th, 1943 at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 3 days. He was born in Clarke county, Iowa. The early part of his life was spent on the farm on which he was born. When he was a young man he went west to Colorado where he lived for a number of years. He was married to Miss Carrie Sweet of Fremont, Nebraska in 1891. In 15 months a baby daughter was born to them and lived but a few hours. The mother passed away one week later.

In 1896 he was united in marriage to Miss Lucy Lutz. To this union two sons were born, Paul dying in infancy, the other, Leo, in December, 1940 in the Veterans hospital in Des Moines being a World War veteran. Mrs. Crew passed away about 1900.

He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Ida Freeman of Osceola, Mrs. Elizabeth Luce of Boise, Idaho, and Mrs. Isa Buckingham of Twin Falls, Idaho, and several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
