Mrs. Jacob Proudfoot received news on Saturday last of the death of her brother, Rev. Aaron Vanscoy of yellow fever at McClenny, Florida on September 15, 1888.

Rev. Vanscoy was a minister for several years in the Des Moines M.E. Conference, where he was known to be a sincere devoted Christian and an able minister.

Rev. Vanscoy was well known in this county having enlisted in Company B, Sixth Iowa Infantry, where he served as lieutenant and hospital steward until near the close of the war when he was discharged for disabilities, having lost his speech, which he did not regain for several months.

Rev. Vanscoy moved with his family from Dunlap, Iowa to Florida some two years ago, where he engaged in the brick business and ministerial work. He died as he lived, an earnest Christian man. His many friends and relatives in this community mourn his loss.
