Died in Osceola, February 7, 1895, at 4:30 A.M., Mrs. Betsey Scott, aged ninety-four years, six months and twenty-one days. Her life came in with the beginning of the present century, July 17, 1800 marking her birthday. Her maiden name was Miss Betsey Babbitt and she was born in Herkimer county, New York.

She united with the Presbyterian church at the age of fourteen of which she was a member till her death. For twenty years she was a school teacher.

In 1849 she married John Scott who died in 1866. For the past twenty-six years she made her home with her step son A.L. Scott.

She was a woman who held the years of her age remarkably well, retiring her strength and the full use of her faculties until an accidental fall in 1893, which rendered her a cripple.

Funeral services were held at the residence of Mrs. A.L. Scott, February 8th at 2 P.m., after which her remains were buried in the Osceola cemetery.
