page 4, August 14, 1934Maria Isabelle Cross, daughter of Israel and Biah Halstead Cross, was born in Columbus, Ohio, July 27, 1842, and passed away Wednesday, August 8, 1934, at the home of her son, William H. Harris, aged 92 years and 11 days.
She came to Iowa when four years of age locating in Johnson county. In 1886 she moved to Clarke county and has resided here since.
In April, 1866, she was married to Silas B. Harris. There survive three children, William H. Harris, Mrs. Gusta Lane, and Charles W. Harris of Osceola, also eleven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one sister Rebecca Printz of Iowa City.
Mother Harris had been affiliated with the church of her choice for fifty years. She had been very patient during her last illness which dates back to July 4th.
Funeral services were held from the Fremont church, Thursday at 2 p.m. with Rev. F.C. McCallon in charge and interment made in the Fremont cemetery.
