Death of Respected Citizen

Mrs. Fox passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. S. Crowley, in Woodburn, Iowa, Monday morning, January 24th, at 12:35.

Anna Marie Meehan Fox was born in Roscommon, Ireland, May 20, 1844. She came to Albany, New York, when quite a young girl and while there she married Patrick Fox June 19, 1864. They lived there for three years and then moved to St. Augustine, Illinois, where they lived until March 9, 1875, when they removed to Woodburn, Iowa, the place that has since been her home. To this union was born ten children, three of whom died in infancy. The surviving ones are Francis Fox, Thomas Fox, Mrs. D. F. Crowe, Mrs. V. M. Grimm and Mrs. W. S. Crowley of Woodburn, Iowa, Mrs. W. M. Litsey of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mrs. B. W. Carson of Ray, North Dakota; besides twenty-six grandchildren who are left to mourn the loss of a loving and devoted mother.

The union was broken February 8, 1887, 1 y the death of the husband and father.

The funeral services were held at St. Mary's church at 10:30 Thursday morning conducted by Rev. J. P. McGillen of Chariton. Interment was made in St. Mary's cemetery.

Those who attended the funeral from a distance were: Mrs. J. P. Dunigan of Galesburg, Illinois, Mrs. W. M. Litsey of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, P. M. Speere, Maurice Fox and daughter, Catherine of Russell, Kansas, Mrs. B. W. Carson of Ray, North Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Donahue, A. D. and J. S. Donahue of Melrose, Ia., and Mrs. Mary Donahue of Des Moines.
