Newton Rex, son of Orpheus Gideon and Adelphia Eleanor Rex Boor, was born January 29, 1886 at Smyrna, Iowa and died at the Decatur County Hospital, Leon Friday, June 23, 1972 at the age of 86 years.
He attended the East Concord school near Woodburn, later transferring to LeRoy school.
On August 7, 1910 he was married to Josie Edith Pollard at Buffalo, Wyoming. Three children were born to this union. Most of their married life was spent in Leroy where he owned a garage. Even after retirement he continued to serve his community with his concern for family and friends.
Preceding his in death were his parents; his wife, in 1966; four brothers-Frank, Lucian H.; Harry O.; and Charles; and one grandson, Joseph.
Survivors include his three children-Irene Parsons and husband, Wayne, Leon; Maxine Kucera and husband Allen, Garden Grove; and Dwight, Casper, Wyoming; several grandchildren, four great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
