Beverly Gertrude Stephenson

Beverly Gertrude Stephenson daughter of Sylvester "Vess" and Maude Loan Handley was born July 17, 1926, in Clarke County, Iowa, and passed away July 22, 1982, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 56 years and 5 days after a long illness.

Beverly attended the Clarke County Schools and graduated from Osceola High School in 1944. She was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Osceola, Iowa and was a lifetime resident of the Clarke County area.

On March 30, 1946, she was united in marriage to Leland Stephenson at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa, and to this union three children were born; Gary, Greg and Lee Ann.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leland in 1974; one son, Gary; three sisters and one brother.

She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Greg Stephenson and wife Lynn of Boulder, Colorado; a daughter, Lee Ann Gray of Truro; grandchildren Cory Gray of Truro and Christopher and Kelly Stephenson of Boulder, Colorado; two sisters, Vesta Miller of Des Moines and Isabelle Saner of Mesa, Arizona; mother-in-law, Pheobe Stephenson of Osceola and sister-in-law Beverly Swallow of Pleasant Hill as well as other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Kale Funeral Home Saturday, July 24, 1982, with Father Don Daleke of Leon officiating and burial was in Maple Hill cemetery, at Osceola.
