WENT TO BROTHERS
BED-SIDE AND DIED

George Sweeney Passed Away At
Davenport-Funeral Thursday

The old time resident of Osceola and Clarke county were saddened Sunday when the word reached them of George Sweeney's severe illness at Davenport. It seems Mr. Sweeney had been called to Davenport by a message saying his brother had a stroke of Paralysis and was in a critical condition. He had not much more than reached his brother's bedside when the same affliction over came him and both he and the brother were unable to tell who their relatives were in Osceola, so Sheriff West was phoned, and immediately notified Mr. Sweeney's daughter, Mrs. Joe McNair with whom Mr. Sweeney made his home. Mr. and Mrs. McNair left immediately for Davenport to be at the bedside of her father, but he passed away Monday evening. The remains were brought to Osceola Tuesday evening and the funeral services were held at the Christian church Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The G. A. R. will attend in a body as he was one of the boys in blue and one of Clarke county's finest men, who will be missed by all.
