Mrs. Ellen Burton.

Ellen Voorhees was born July 27, 1836 and died June 3, 1919, at the home of her son, L. L. Burton, at Creston, Iowa, aged 82 years, 10 months and 7 days. At the age of 20 years she was married to James Burton who preceded her in death six years ago. To this union were born two sons and four daughters — Mrs. J. L. Millard of Pinconning, Mich., Lloyd S. of Minneapolis, Mrs. A. E. Darlington of Mercedes, Texas, Lester L. of Creston, Iowa, Mrs. A. E. Claviter of Medford, Wis. and Mrs. J. E. Barron of Kalamazoo, Michigan, all of whom survive the parents. For the past twelve years Woodburn has been her home until last winter when owing to age and ill health she went to live with her son. All that medical skill and loving hands could do was done but she fell asleep peacefully Tuesday, June 3rd. She was a loving mother, a dear good grandmother, and was never so happy as when doing something that would contribute to the enjoyment of others. She has been for the past 35 years a very devoted member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Osceola, Iowa. The faith which had supported her thru all these years sustained her as she went down into the dark valley. Angels will guard the spot where she sleeps until the morning of the resurrection when the Redeemer of earth will call her forth to enter the mansions prepared for those who love Him.

The body was taken to Woodburn where funeral services were held at the M. E. church Friday morning at 10:30. Interment was made in the Woodburn cemetery.
