Obituary.

Elvira Swan was born in Guilford, county, N. C. June 5. 1817 and passed away January 20, 1901, aged eighty-three years, seven months and twenty-four days. Her parents moved from North Carolina to Union county, Indiana when she was three months old. She was married to Isaac Barnard September 24, 1841. To them were born eight children, five girls and three boys, six of whom are still living. They moved to Clarke county, Iowa, in September 1867. She was a member of the Friend church until leaving Indiana, after which time she never united with any church. Mrs. Barnard was highly respected by all who knew her. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of their many friends in this the loss of kind and loving mother.
