Mr. Silas Shinn was born in Virginia June 17, 1836 and died near his home in Clarke County, Iowa, April 15, 1901. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Martin in 1857. To this union was born four daughters, one dying when young. Two of the three was present at the funeral. The funeral was conducted by Rev. J. C. Porter of Osceola circuit M. P. church. The bereft friends have the sympathy of the entire neighborhood.
