Murray Man Is
Killed By Train
Saturday A.M.

Funeral Rites For Chas
Zink, 76, Held At His
Native Town Monday

Charles Zink, 76, lifetime Clarke county resident, was instantly killed when struck by a freight train in Murray, Saturday morning.

Mr. Zink was walking north on the east sidewalk at the main crossing in Murray and apparently did not hear the train. The aged man was hard of hearing and his eyesight was not good. The strong wind blowing is believed to have made less effective his sight and hearing so that he never knew the train was coming.

He had almost reached safety when struck. The body was thrown clear of the locomotive. He was dead when picked up, his neck having been broken and his chest crushed.

Mr. Zink had spent the greater portion of his life in Murray and vicinity. He lived a few years in Colorado where his wife and one son died. His only daughter, Maxine, passed away a few years ago. He is survived by his son-in-law, Carl Siefkas and two grandchildren, Bobby and Elma Siefkas; one sister, Mrs. Buchanan of Colorado; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Em Zink of Des Moines; a nephew, Lloyd Zink of Afton, and one niece in California.

Funeral services were held from the Christian church at Murray, Monday afternoon and burial was made in Murray cemetery.
