Mrs. Sarah Turner.

Another of the pioneers of the state and a beloved Christian character has been called before the final court, Mrs. Sarah Turner having passed away at the Savannah, Mo., hospital last Sunday, where she had gone for treatment. Mrs. Turner had been in failing health for many months and of late spent considerable time at Savannah, Mo., where she was taking treatment for cancer, which, however, did not directly cause her death, pneumonia having developed a few days ago, and owing to her weakened condition, hastened her translation. The body was brought to Murray and to her late home here, on Monday, and at 11 o'clock Wednesday, April 23, the funeral services were conducted from the Murray Church of Christ by the minister, Loren R. Gans. Interment was made in the Union cemetery, the remains being laid to rest by the side of her companion who preceded her a few years.

Sarah E. Abernathy, daughter of George and Elizabeth Abernathy was born May 27, 1851, in Wapello County, Iowa, departed from this life April 20, 1924, at Savannah, Missouri, where she had gone three weeks previous for treatment.

While still a young girl, she with her parents, moved to Clarke county, Iowa, where she spent the remainder of her life.

On March 12, 1867, she was united in marriage to Thomas Turner. Her beloved companion departed this life eight years ago.

Thirty-eight years ago she confessed her faith in Christ and was baptized, uniting with the Church of Christ, at Zalla, Iowa, later placing her membership in the Murray Church of Christ, where she remained a faithful member.

She leaves to mourn her loss, three daughters--Mrs. D. H. Carder, Mrs. H. H. Klein, Mrs. Chas. Burgus, all of Murray, Iowa; also fourteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; six brothers and three sisters--William Abernathy of Great Falls, Montana; George Abernathy of Vancouver, Washington; Chas. Abernathy of St. Edwards, Nebr.; H. L. Abernathy of Shannon City, Iowa; Andrew Abernathy of Red Bluff, Calif.; Emma Jane Stewart, of Des Moines, Iowa; Maggie L. Abernathy, of Murray, Iowa; Viola Messenger, of Hereford, Texas; L. M. Abernathy of Des Moines, Iowa; also one half-brother, John Abernathy, of Murray, Iowa, and many other relatives and a host of warm friends who share in the sorrow occasioned by her death.--Murray News.
