F. W. Johnson, Jr., came to Osceola to attend the funeral of his brother-in-law, Adam Kerns, and while there was attacked by acute pneumonia, which terminated his life at six P.M. Sunday evening, March 28th. He was unable to go to his home to Humeston, and died at the home of his father, F. W. Johnson, Sr., in Osceola, attended by the hands that had cared for him in infancy and youth.

His wife arrived in time to receive the parting directions and comfort him with her presence. Sad indeed was their parting, leaving her with four children, two being the children of their marriage, two of his first marriage with Frankie, daughter of Dr. Chaney.

Mr. Johnson had united with the Christian church at Humeston and lived a consistent life. He told his friends he was prepared for death, and only regretted leaving his wife and children. So he died calmly, aware almost to the last moment that he was sinking out of life.

He was thirty-six years, three months, twenty-four days old. He was a Clarke county boy, and as a man had many warm friends who extend their sympathy to his aged father and mother, brothers and sister, and bereaved family in their sorrow.

The funeral services were held at the M. P. church at 2 P.M. Tuesday, after which he was laid to rest in the cemetery at Osceola.
