July 21, 1931 , page 3

Emma Belle Keim Folger was born January 9, 1859, in Jefferson county, Iowa, and died July 12, 1931, at the home of her son, Ward Folger, north of Osceola, Iowa; age 72 years, 6 months, 3 days.

She was one of seven children born to Louis P. and Kathryn Jane Keim. At the ripe age of 98 years, her mother still survives her, living with a daughter in Ray county, Missouri.

When a girl of four years, her parents moved from Jefferson county to Union county, Iowa. On November 7, 1882, she was united in marriage to Wyman W. Folger, a minister of the Church of the Brethren. After marriage she made her home on a farm in north Clarke county. For 32 years she served as the faithful companion of a busy farmer-preacher. Mr. and Mrs. Folger moved to Polk county near Ankeny in 1913 where they lived for 18 years. After the death of her husband May 4, 1930, Mrs. Folger returned to Clarke county where she helped to make a home for her son and grandson until the time of her death.

Two children survive her, Ward Folger of New Virginia and Mrs. Jennie Keller of Leonard, Mo.; four grandchildren, Earle Folger of New Virginia, Virgie, Louis and Bonnie Keller of Shelby county, Missouri. One grandchild, Vira Arline Fogler, preceded her to the spirit world.
Three brothers survive her, Charles H. Keim of Decatur county, Iowa; Frank M. Keim of Ludlowville, N.Y., Ellis M. Keim of McPherson, Kansas. There are two surviving sisters, Mrs. S.J. Bowman, Ray county, Missouri, and Mrs. Jennie Woods of Lucerne, Missouri. One sister is deceased, Fannie A. Newland.

Mrs. Folger united with the Church of the Brethren in April, 1882. As a devoted wife and mother and an earnest Christian worker in the church, Sister Folger developed the fine art of living in the hearts and lives of hundreds who learned to know and love her. All agree that she developed a wonderful beautiful character.

Services were conducted July 14, 1931, at 10 a.m. in the Osceola Funeral Home by her pastor, A.T. Hoffert, and in the Des Moines Valley church near Ankeny, Iowa, at 2 p.m. by Rev. I.D. Leatherman, pastor. Her body rests be the side of her husband in the Brethren cemetery to the east of the church near Ankeny.
