Blanche Ellen Saddoris was born at Osceola, Iowa, September 14. 1886 and died at her home near Greenwood, Nebraska, of acute pneumonia on December 23, 1918, at the age of 32 years, 3 months and 9 days.

She was the second daughter of Samuel Newton and Arthilla Williams. On January 17, 1902, she was united in marriage to Melvin Hilterbrand and to this union two sons and four daughters were born—Gerald aged 15 years, Grace 13, Alice 12, Nellie 11, Paul 9 and Lois 7. She leaves besides her husband and six children an aged father, two brothers and two sisters to mourn her death.

In 1913 Mr. and Mrs. Hilterbrand gave their hearts to God and their names to the United Brethren church at Cheney, Nebraska. Mrs. Hilterbrand has lived a consistent Christian life, she has been a devoted wife and a loving mother, commanding the love and respect of all who knew her. By her going she has left the community poorer.

Saddened friends are extending sympathy to the dear ones left to miss her in the home. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. B. Whitmer of the Greenwood M.E. church, Thursday, December 26th at 12 o'clock at the family residence with the family and a few near relatives present. The husband was able to sit up but five of the children were confined to their beds.
Interment was made in the Greenwood cemetery.
