Mrs. Zula Marie Painter, 66-year-old life-time resident of Clarke county, died unexpectedly Saturday at her home in Osceola. Mrs. Painter had been active until stricken with the fatal attack so that her death was an unexpected shock to the community where she was prominent in a number of organizations.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Webster Funeral Home with Rev. Azel L. Smith of' Creston, former Osceola Methodist pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Maple Hill cemetery.

The daughter of Andrew J. and Anna Marie Benbow Edwards, she was born Aug. 26, 1896, in Clarke county. She was educated in the county schools and had lived all of her life in the community.

On Nov. 27, 1919, she was united in marriage with Earl E Jeffreys in Osceola and they were the parents of two sons. Mr. Jeffreys preceded her in death. She was married to Guy Painter, on April 7, 1931, in Osceola. Mrs. Painter was a member of the First Methodist church and an active member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Osceola Woman's Club.

Surviving are two sons, Jack E. Jeffreys and Andy Bill Jeffreys of Osceola; one sister, Mrs. C. Fred Freel of Oklahoma City, Okla., and a niece, Sally Burnett of Oklahoma City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; one brother, Warren, and a sister in infancy
