VIRGIL "WILL" HOWARD WILLIAMS
Virgil "Will" Howard Williams, 51, of Council Bluffs, the son of Virgil Leroy and Betty Heston Williams, was born on Nov. 13, 1951, in Osceola and died Sept. 18, 2003, in Omaha, Nebr.
He married Rita Ann Marksberry Brewer on Dec. 17, 1997, in Council Bluffs.
He was employed with Local 16 Plumbers Union in Council Bluffs. He was involved with EOD Explosive Ordnance Disposal and was a member of the presidential guard for Presidents Nixon and Ford. He was a plumbing inspector from 1991 to 1996 and had various construction and carpenter jobs throughout the years.
Mr. Williams loved deer hunting, target shooting and the Nebraska Sandhills.
He was instrumental in developing the Iowa Hunter Education Instructor Association and helped may youth as an instructor with his shooting and hunting knowledge. Mr. Williams belonged to many organizations, including National Rifle Association (NRA), NRA Endowment, NRA Promotor, NRA Volunteer Field Support Team, Iowa State Rifle and Pistol Association, Iowa Southwest Shootist, Great Plains Mounted Shooters, Southwest Iowa Sportsman Club, Single Action Shooters Society, Cowboy Mounted Shooter Association and Plumber Local 16 Union member.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of Council Bluffs; parents, Virgil and Betty Williams of Weldon; a brother Donald Williams and his wife, Chris Williams of Osceola and a sister Vickie Binning and her husband Mark Binning of Osceola; four nieces; a nephew; aunts and uncles; cousins and a host of friends.
Services for Mr. Williams were Sept. 22 at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood, Pastor Orville Terry officiating. Organist was Ardis Dusenberry and special selections were Some Gave All, One Tin Soldier and Flying Without Wings.
Casket bearers were Donald Williams, Scott Williams, Rick Osweiler, Mark Binning, Tim Zellner and Mark Baker. Honorary bearers were Robert Hall, Darcey Butts, Lynn Eckel, Butch Voudry, Mark Williams, Dan Ladd, Joe Pestotnik, Dave Hopp, Mack Craig, Larry Leet, Brad Brook, Bret Peters, Fred Smith, Eric Williams, Norm Faris, Don Park, Belknap Stoutzenberger and Bob Burns.
Interment was in Martin Chapel Cemetery at Pacific Junction.
