L. D. Bruner, 48 years old, of Des Moines, was instantly killed by the falling of a heavy timber. Bruner was employed as a laborer, moving a house on the state fair grounds. He had crawled under the house, which was being lowered. His body was badly crushed and he died before Dr. Guy E. Clift, police surgeon, reached the scene.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born in 1866 and died June 4, 1913. He is buried in Maple Hill Cemetery in Clarke County.
