Martha Evelyn Bryant, 89, of Medford, Ore., died December 11, 2010, at Providence Hospital in Medford, Ore.

A celebration of Martha Evelyn's life was held at the Cornerstone Christian Church in Medford, Ore. Memorials may be given in her name to Medford Gospel Mission, 125 W. Jackson Medford, OR 97501, or Federation for the Blind, 200 E. Wells St., at Jernigan Place Baltimore, MD 21230.

Martha Evelyn Bryant, daughter of Jesse Sampson and Mamie Grace Schaffer, was born Feb. 22, 1921, in New Virginia.

Martha worked as a teacher in a country one-room schoolhouse, waitress, shoe sales, nanny and caregiver.

Martha is survived by her husband Ralph Chester Bryant; daughters, Penelope Ann (husband David) Rusnock, Cynthia Sue (husband David) Yoak, Ginger Grace (husband Jason) Bull; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Martha was preceded in death by her first husband Ralph Edward Fouche; parents; sister Geraldine DeRuff and brother Harold Schaffer.
