Mrs. Lula Rhodes, daughter of George and Hattie Jackson was born in Clinton county, Missouri, June 12, 1891 and passed away at her home in Osceola, Iowa, May 17, 1939 at the age of 47 years, 11 months and 5 days.

Lula was baptized in the Church of Christ in Osceola by Rev. H. E. Van Horn when about 16 years old. She moved to Des Moines when 25 years of age and joined the St. Paul A. M. E. church there where she was an active member in Sunday school and church work.

Upon the illness of her father she moved to Osceola, Iowa and continued her church work in the St. Paul A. M. E. church here. She has been a faithful worker until her illness prevented her from doing so.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband Walter A. Rhodes, one daughter Mrs. Theresa Chapman, her mother Hattie Jackson, one brother Marshall Jackson, other relatives and a host of friends. She was a faithful companion and mother and a friend to all who knew her.

Funeral services were held at the Webster Funeral Home Sunday at 2:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. J. C. Baine, pastor of the Burnes M. E. church of Des Moines.
