Sarah Ann Holloway

Sarah Ann Holloway was born in Maryland 10 miles from the District of Columbia, November 21, 1848 and passed away at her late home in Woodburn, Iowa March 6, 1929. She was married to Thomas W. Holloway Nov. 19th 1864 and he died April 21, 1916. To this union was born five children, Oda Mathena, Effie Smith, Ollie Humeston, Elsie Price and Addie Leah Marquis who died Feb. 16, 1921. Besides these one brother, James Mumford survive her and three grand children. Grandma Holloway as she was known, has lived in Woodburn, Iowa 50 years. She was a quiet sweet, loving, courteous woman, who was always thoughtful and considerate of every one who came to her home. She was of a modest and retiring nature and those who knew her loved her and found her true. She was especially devoted to her home and family. She gave evidence that she was saved and going to her home in heaven. A good woman has passed on and will be missed, sincerely mourned by her family and friends.

Funeral services were held from her late home, Friday, March 8th at 2:30 p.m. conducted by F. A. Wing. Music was furnished by a mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Boor, Mrs. Marquis, Mr. Stanley and Mr. Crist. The pall bearers were: Fern Jennings, Lewis Terhune, Ray Boor, Russell Boor, Jack Davenport and Levi Herndon. Interment was made in the Woodburn cemetery.
