Margaret Elon Louthain.

Margaret Elon Louthain was born in Warren county, Indiana, January 18, 1844, and departed this life at the home of her granddaughter, near Chariton, Lucas county, Iowa, October 18, 1928, aged 84 years, 9 months and 10 days.

August 15, 1861, she was united in marriage to Thomas T. Smith who departed this life in 1912. To this union was born two children Mary Alice who died in infancy and Charles Elmore who passed away in 1900.

In the year 1891 she was converted and joined the United Brethren church at Center Chapel and remained in that faith until her Master saw fit to call her to her Heavenly home. She was patient in her suffering and a few days before she passed away expressed her wish to the blessed Jesus to come and take her home. She leaves to mourn her passing away one sister, Mrs. Martha Wise, of Ontario, Calif., and one brother, George Louthain, of Logansport, Indiana; four grandchildren, George Smith and Mrs. W. L. Cook, of Lucas county, Mrs. Or-(missing print), Clarke county; nine great grand(missing print) vil Cook and Mrs. T. L. Cook of Children.

Grandma Smith was well known and much loved by many in this and other neighborhoods and a host of friends deeply sympathize with these grandchildren in the loss of their loved one.

Funeral services were conducted at Bethel Chapel on Saturday afternoon, October 20, by Rev. C. W. Stewart, and the remains laid to rest in Bethel cemetery.
