Services Friday

Resident Of Clarke County For Nearly
70 Years, Died At Clarke Co.
Hospital Tuesday

Services for Mrs. Picciola Walker Powell will be held at the Webster Funeral home Friday afternoon, March 16 at 2:00 o'clock. Burial will be in Bethel Chapel cemetery. Rev. David Mathews of the Community Bible church will officiate.

Mrs. Powell, who was 79 years old, died at the Clarke county hospital Tuesday. She had lived in a nursing home in Osceola for a number of years and was a resident of Clarke county for nearly 60 years.

Mrs. Powell was born in Lee county, Iowa on February 9, 1876, a daughter of Samuel and Mary Elizabeth Walker.

On January 1, 1895, she was married to James Wm. Powell. Eight children were born to them, all of whom survive their parents. She was a member of the Community Bible church.

Survivors include the children: Mrs. Ruby Race, Mrs. Lena Carson, Mrs. Bessie Hoover and Mrs. Edna Mumper, all of Osceola, and Mrs. Nellie Reed of Eugene Ore.; Ernest of Cambria, Floyd of Woodburn and Dean of Weldon; 26 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and on sister, Clara Black of Osceola.

Note: The headstone is inscribed with the year of birth as 1877 and the obituary states she was born in 1876.
