Alma Brand Died
Here Saturday

Funeral Services Monday;
Burial in Maple Hill

Last rites for Alma Brand were held at the Webster Funeral home, Monday, June 22, with Rev. Warren Hile officiating. Burial in Maple Hill cemetery.
The obituary:

Alma Ometa Brand, son of John and Mary Twombley Brand, was born in Clarke county, Iowa, March 20, 1893. He died at his home in Osceola, June 20, 1953, at the age of 60 years and three months. He had been in failing health for the past several years. All of his life was spent in the Osceola community.

Alma spent a great deal of his life working as a contractor, and served 18 years with the Koss Construction company of Des Moines. Later he was appointed as street commissioner of Osceola and held that position until he was compelled to retire on account of failing health. He was an able and dependable worker and had an excellent record with the companies for whom he worked.

He was married to Gladys Adell Spencer at Van Wert, June 11, 1913. To this union were born seven children.

He is survived by his devoted wife and mother; four daughters and two sons: Mildred A. Curnes, Falls City, Neb.; Vondeen E. Curnes, Suffolk, Va.; Maxine S. Smith, Pueblo, Colo.; Dorothy D. Walton, Coffeyville, Kans.; Gerald O. Brand, Kansas City, Mo.; and Norman G. Brand, Des Moines, Iowa. One daughter, Arieta Smith, died October 4, 1944. There are sixteen living grandchildren and one grandson deceased.

Also surviving are six brothers: James D., Des Moines; Lewis G., Mt. Ayr; John W., Clinton; Asher W., Osceola; Loren, Van Wert; and four sisters: Mable Critz, Florence Foreman and Venus Collins, all of Osceola, and Dorothy Goodrich of Franklin Nebraska.
