Idella Carson

Funeral services for Idella Carson, former Clarke county woman, were held from the Methodist church at Woodburn Sunday conducted by Rev. Harry Osborne. The services were in charge of the Forster Funeral home. Interment was made in the Woodburn cemetery.

Idella Hooker, daughter of Mary and William Hooker, was born in Morgan county, Ohio, Jan. 6, 1869 and passed away in the Gillette, Wyo. hospital, March 6, at the age of 71 years, 8 months.

She was married to Thomas D. Carson Feb. 22, 1884, in Greenville, Iowa, and to this union were born five children, two having preceded her in death.

In 1910 they moved to Ray, N. Dakota, where they lived for six years, moving to Gillette, Wyo. in 1916 where she lived until her death.

She was kind, cheerful, sympathetic, was always ready to do a service for her family and friends, and patiently shared their burdens. In this she found a real joy in life. She had been failing in health for about two years.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Thomas D. Carson; three daughters, Mrs. Ethel Bennick, Gillette, Wyo., Mrs. Edna Voris, Osceola, Iowa and Mrs Opal Westman, Topeka, Kansas; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one sister Mrs. R. D. Young of Garden Grove, Iowa and one brother, Luk Hooker of Lucas, Iowa, besides a host of friends.

Among the out of town relatives and friends present were: Tom Carson, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Bennick, Mrs. Anna Carson and son of Gillette, Wyo.; Mr. and Mrs. Weston of Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Voris of Osceola; Mrs. Young and daughter of Garden Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Leck Hooker of Lucas; Mr. and Mrs. John Kent of Chariton; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Carson of Humeston; Mr. and Mrs. Kay Garris and daughter Wanda, Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Garris, Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Ewoldsen and son Pearl and Mrs. Lillie Reece, Osceola.
