Received Word of
Shively's Death

Word has been received here of the death December 9 of John M. Shively at Kearney, Neb., an uncle of John E. Shively and the late Dr. J. D. Shively of Osceola. A short obituary sketch follows:

John M. Shively, youngest son of Christian and Susan Shively, was born January 17, 1854, near Toledo, Ohio, and passed away at Kearney, Nebr., Dec. 9, 1948, being 94 years, 10 months and 22 days old.

The family came to Iowa when John was a boy, residing on the old farm home near Osceola until after the death of his mother.

He never made any profession of religion in his early life, but only a few years ago in his 80's he was baptized and united with the Seventh Day Adventist church at Kearney, Nebr.

For several years he has made his home in the nursing home of Mrs. Erma Dexton in Kearney. He was always kind, patient and industrious. He leaves four nieces and seven nephews, in his passing.

The funeral was conducted by pastor A. A. Dirkson of Grand Island, and he was buried in the Kearney cemetery.
