Dies in Chariton

John Richard Evans of Woodburn, Iowa died Friday, April 4, 1980 at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital in Chariton, Iowa. Funeral services were held at the Woodburn Christian Church Monday, April 7. Densmore Peterson and Glen Israel officiated at the 2:00 p.m. service with interment in the Woodburn Cemetery.

John Richard Evans, 80, was born in Lucas, Iowa April 27, 1899, the son of John T. and Elizabeth Evans. He attended the Lucas County schools and was united in marriage to Dorothy Cline September 10, 1921 in Chariton, Iowa. One child was born to this union. He was a Burlington Railroadman and retired in 1965. He was a member of Unity Lodge #212, Woodburn, Iowa, White Shrine of Chariton, Iowa, Order of Eastern Star, Woodburn and was affiliated with the Woodburn Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Evans of Woodburn, Iowa, son, Jack C. Evans and wife, Helen of San Mateo, California, two grandchildren, Mark and Martin, five sisters, Sarah Hervey of Chariton, Iowa, Irene Baker of Lucas, Iowa, Viola Fine of Ohio, Gwen Amsberry of Bates City, Missouri, Doris Deitrick of Pioneer, California.

He was preceded in death by parents, three brothers, Evan, B. Thomas and Daniel.
