Osceola Sentinel, May 22nd, 1884; page 3

Margaret Farley was born in the State of Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia, Nov. 27th, in the year 1791. Her maiden name was Calvert. While yet very young her parents removed with her to Green county, Pa., where she lived until grown.

In 1818 she was married to John Farley and settled in Morgan county, Ohio. In 1828 she removed with her husband to Tennessee, and in 1833 to Monroe county, Indiana, and lastly in 1851 to Clarke county, Iowa. Here she lost her husband in 1859, since which time she was kindly cared for by her sons until her death from pneumonia, which occurred May 13th, 1884, at the ripe age of 92 years, 5 months and 16 days.

She was the mother of seven children, only three of whom are now living. Mother Farley embraced Christianity in her young days, and was faithful until death. She was the senior member of the M.P. church of Osceola, of which she had been a member for many years. Notwithstanding Mother Farley’s age she was blessed with unclouded mind and good health down to her late sickness, which lasted only about one week.

The funeral service was held at the residence of her son, William Farley, one and one-half miles from Osceola, May 15th, and high esteem in which Mother Farley was held was clearly attested by the large number of citizens of town and country that followed her remains to their last resting place.
