In 1883 Mr. Miller and his family moved to Monmouth, Illinois, after residing there for 23 years he then came to Osceola in 1926, and has resided here since that time. As a youth, Mr. Miller joined the Disciples church in the state of Virginia, when he came to Illinois he identified himself with the Methodist Episcopal church. He was a man who walked humbly and uprightly among his fellowmen all the days of his life. He sought to do good as he had opportunity. He was a diligent student of the Word of God, and sought to practice it in his daily walks and life. As the infirmities of age, and the cares and perplexities of life multiplied themselves unto him, he looked forward to the time when he should hear the summons of his Redeemer. Funeral services were held at the Miller Funeral Home, Sunday afternoon, September 2, 1928, the Rev. Raoul R. Moser of the local Methodist Episcopal Church officiating. The body was taken back to Kirkland, Illinois, Sunday night. Burial followed in the Kirkland cemetery, Monday, September 3, 1928.” (The Osceola Sentinel, Osceola, Iowa, 6 September 1928, pg. 7)
