“Services Sunday for Clyde Miller – former Resident Died in Des Moines July 13; Was 61 Years Old – Everett Clyde Miller, 61, former Osceola resident, died at Des Moines Friday, July 13. Services were held at the Webster Funeral home in Osceola, Sunday, July 15 with Rev. Lester Hall of the Methodist church officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill cemetery. The son of J. Wesley & Ida Miller, he was born in Monmouth, Illinois 9 February 1890. He came to Osceola with his parents at an early age and grew to manhood here. He was married Evangeline Mason [sic] at Milwaukee, Wisc [sic]. Four children were born to them. Mrs. Miller died on January 12, 1929. On April 9, 1940, he was married to Ila Howard of Des Moines. Clyde had made his home in Des Moines for the past 17 years were he was a member of the Moose lodge and the American Legion. Surviving are his wife, Ila Miller and his three children: Dell Everett Miller of Burlington; Mrs. Ida Imogene Morris of West Des Moines; Mrs. Lena Rosemond Scott of San Antonio, Texas; his father J. Wesley Miller of Osceola; one granddaughter, Stephanie Gaye Scott; and a step-son, Robert Howard of Norfolk, VA. Also surviving were his sisters: Bertha Baker of West Des Moines; Mrs. Lena Smith of Osceola; and Mrs. Verna Pierson [sic] of Bakersfield, Calif., and a number of nephews, nieces and friends.” (The Osceola Tribune, Osceola, Iowa, 17 July 1951, pg. 1)
