Alvin Merle Woods

Alvin Merle Woods, son of Bert and Viola Woods was born March 21, 1903 in Lucas county, Iowa. Departed this life March 2, 1935, at the age of 31 years, 11 months and 11 days.

Alvin grew up on a farm and made farming his occupation. He received his education in the schools of Clarke county, and also Sunday school at Lewis church. Alvin spent his entire life in Clarke county except two years in Wyoming.

On March 16, 1925 he was united in marriage to Miss Beulah Roberts. To this union two children were born, Alvin Jr., who died in infancy, Clarice Doraine at home, age 5 years.

Alvin had been in failing health for some time. Five weeks ago he met with an accident which impaired his health. He was ambitious, a pleasing fellow to meet, and gave a helping hand to those in need.

He leaves to mourn his going his wife and little daughter Clarice; his father Bert Woods, (his mother having preceded him in death 6 years ago), his brothers and sisters, Mrs. Nellie Cochran of Wheatland, Wyo., Mrs. Lucille Colo of Kansas City, Mrs. Pauline Patters, Lillie, Nota, Laurel, Roy, and Ross all at home, Lester of Murray, Iowa, a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service was held from the Webster Funeral Home in Osceola, Wednesday, March 6, at 11 a. m., conducted by Rev. Mrs. Wolfe of Van Wert, Iowa. Interment made in the Bethel Chapel cemetery.
