Fred W. Martin

Services for Fred W. Martin, well known former Clarke county resident, were held at Woodburn Wednesday afternoon. He died in Indianola Monday.

At Indianola services were held at 10 a. m., and then the body was brought to Woodburn where interment was made in Ottawa cemetery. Masons were in charge.

He came to Clarke county with his parents when only three years old and lived in the vicinity of Woodburn until 1917 when he moved to Indianola where he has since made his home.

Fred W. Martin, son of Isaac M. and Mary Martin was born March 1, 1865 at Monmouth, Illinois and departed this life at his home in Indianola, October 20, 1941 at the age of 76 years, 7 months and 20 days.

At the age of three years, he came with his parents to Clarke county, Iowa, where he lived until 1917, when he with his family moved to Indianola.

He was united in marriage to Anna E. Reese, November 9, 1886. To this union were born eight children, Ray E., Woodburn; Lloyd E., Wichita Falls, Texas; Calvin B., Mason City, Ia.; Clarence A., Woodburn; Harold L, Tyler, Texas; May E. Lead, South Dakota; Mrs. Chas. McCoy, Des Moines, and Walter R. who died when two years of age.

He is survived also by his late wife, two sisters and one brother, namely, Mrs. William Beard, Osceola; Mrs. C. T. Stafford, Chariton, Harley B. Martin, Osceola; also 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
