Dies in Ariz.Gladys Nina Blakely, 89, Mesa, Arizona, died at the Valley Lutheran Hospital in Mesa Thursday, September 18, 1986. Services were held from the Kale Funeral Home in Osceola Sunday, September 21 with the Rev. Robert Pickerell of Creston officiating at the 2 p.m. rites. Interment was in the Woodburn Cemetery.
Gladys Nina Blakely was born September 3, 1897 in Melrose, Iowa; daughter of William Weller and Clye Mae Carmack Weller. She was married to Avon Blakely on October 19, 1919 in Osceola. One child was born to this union.
She was employed by the Blakely Cattle Commission Company of West Fargo, North Dakota and moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1974. The previous 23 years she had lived in West Fargo.
She was affiliated with the Church of Master United Presbyterian in Mesa.
Survivors include a son, Gene Blakely of Scottsdale, Arizona; and a sister-in-law, Lucille Smith of Creston.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Avon who died in 1978.
