There are also seventeen grand children and nine great grandchildren living, two step children, Edward Pultz and Mrs. Anna Calvin, both of Manhattan, Kansas, also surviving him, and thirteen grandchildren and ten step great grandchildren are living.

Bro. Marquis was converted in his own house in the fall of 1861 and placed his membership with the Methodist church for five years and then united with the Church of Christ in Christian Union at Bethel Chapel of which he and his wife were charter members and have ever remained loyal to the same.

He moved from Ohio to Clarke county, Iowa in 1856, and during all the trying experiences common to pioneer life, he retained an irreproachable integrity as a citizen and as a Christian.

On Tuesday. December 5, 1916, funeral services were conducted at the home and at the church by Rev. C. W. Stewart, pastor, assisted by Rev. N. D. Gordon and Rev. A. C Thomas.
