Gilbert Ross Kearney, son of Lola Minear and the Rev. Thomas Daken Kearney was born on March 5, 1894 at Jay, Iowa. He was the youngest of nine children. He departed from this life on Jan. 15, 1962 at the age of 67 years, ten months and ten days.

When an infant he was moved to Ava, Mo., with his family. He later returned to Clarke County, where he resided for the rest of his life.

During his childhood, he dedicated his life to Christ and has remained ever faithful.

He was a veteran of World War I during which time he served 11 months overseas.

On Nov. 30, 1925 in the little Brown Church at Nashua, he was united in marriage with Edna Williams. To this union were born eight children.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Richard of Lees Summit, Mo., and Roger, now serving with the armed forces in the Panama Canal Zone; six daughters, Mrs. Lorna Jones of Afton; Mrs. Lorraine Jensen of England; Mrs. Marian Nesbitt of Sparks, Nev.; Mrs. Coleen Roush of Indianola; and Alice and Dowell at home; one daughter-in-law, four sons-in-law, 14 grandchildren; one brother Arthur of Garber, Okla., and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held at the Miller Funeral Home, 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, with the Rev. L. V. Fardon officiating and burial at Bethel Chapel Cemetery.
