Services were June 6 at the Overton Funeral Home in Indianola for
Edna B. Kearney, 95, of Indianola who died June 1, 1998, at the
Indianola Good Samaritan Center. Burial was in Bethel Chapel Cemetery in Clarke County.

Mrs. Kearney was born at Liberty Center. She attended Liberty
Township and Indianola High School for three years before graduating from Southeast Warren High School in Liberty Center. She attended Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls and taught in rural schools in Warren and Clarke counties.

She married Gilbert Kearney on Nov. 30, 1925, at the Little Brown
Church in Nashua. She spent most of her married life on the farm the couple bought in 1931 north of Osceola. Following Mr. Kearney's death in 1962 she moved to Osceola and in April 1986 she moved to McCord Manor in Indianola.

Mrs. Kearney was a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 111 in Osceola,
World War I Barrack Auxiliary and the Calvary Baptist Church in
Osceola.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Kearney and his wife, Nancy
Kearney, of Prosperity, Pa. and Roger Kearney of Houston, Texas; six daughters, Lorna Jones of Las Vegas, Nev., Marian Maloney of North Las Vegas, NeV., Lorraine Jensen of San Antonio, Texas, Coleen Roush of Indianola, Alice Davis and her husband, Melvin Davis of Murray and Dowell Patricia Kearney of Portland, Ore.; 20 grandchildren, 34 greatgrandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Naomi Taylor of Vallejo, Calif.; and a nephew Ron Coles of Indianola.
