Walter Vawn, 79, of rural Osceola died Saturday, December 31, 1983 at the Clarke County Hospital. Services were held Wednesday, January 4 beginning at 11 a.m. at the Kale Funeral Home. Interment was in the Maple Hill Cemetery.

Water Vawn was born March 16, 1904 in Clarke County to Fredrick James Vawn and Mary Ellen Flynn Vawn. He attended schools in Clarke County and was married to Marie Louse Hart on July 1, 1933 in Bethany, Missouri.

He farmed in the Galesburg area before coming to Murray for three years, prior to coming to Osceola. Walter was a member of the Clarke County Historical Society.

Surviving relatives include a son, James Vawn of Osceola; sisters, Mrs. Mary Woods of Osceola, Kathryn Megrew of Osceola and Helen Stegall of Abington, Illinois; brother, Fred Vawn of Dumont, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie in 1982 and one brother, Henry.
