Henry W Parr was born in Charlestown Clarke county, Indiana, on the 13th of March 1833. . With his parents he moved to Iowa in 1850 and settled near Bethlehem, Wayne county, his father laying out and naming the town.

He married Anna Miles at Corydon on the 10th day of July, 1864. In 1873 they removed to Garden Grove and in 1888 to Weldon, where they have since resided. Mr. Parr united with the Church of Christ at the age of nineteen, and has since lived an earnest, conscientious, Christian life.

He died at Weldon on Friday, August 25, 1904 in the firm faith in his loving Savior, leaving his widow and two children to mourn their loss.
