William Michael Leasure was born April 26, 1885 at Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of George and Mary Leasure. He passed away on Nov. 15, 1961 at Clear Lake, at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 19 days.
William attended rural school and grew to manhood at Woodburn, Iowa. In 1917 he was united in marriage to Eva Sophie Pratt at Winnipeg, Canada.
He began working for the Chicago-Great Western Railroad Company on Sep. 3, 1918 and retired on June 30, 1950. During these years he lived several places due to his employment with the majority of them in Minneapolis, Minn. After retirement he has made his home with one of his daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Knutson of Clear Lake.
William was preceded in death by his parents and on daughter, Mary. He is survived by two sons and four daughters; Virgil Leasure of Circle Pines, Minn.; Orville Leasure of Bell Gardens, Calif.; (Leona) Mrs. Eddie Johnson of Prairie Farm, Wisc.; (Phoebe) Mrs. Lloyd Knutson of Clear Lake, (Gloria) Mrs. Marcellus Meemken of St. Paul Minn., and (Evelyn) Mrs. Lafe Knutson of New Richmond, Wis,; 29 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, one brother John Leasure of Stockton, Calif., and many more distant relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 17, 1961 at 2 p.m. at the Hammer Funeral Chapel in Clear Lake with Rev. Theodore Berkland officiating. Mrs. Ethel DeCracium sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "In the Garden" accompanied by Mrs. C.J.E. Nilsen. Casket bearers were: grandsons; William Leasure, Donald Leasure, Duwayne Johnson, Darrel Knutson, LeRoy Knutson and Dennis Meemken. Interment was made at Woodburn Cemetery at Woodburn, Ia., at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, 1961.
