Margaret Stephenson, daughter of James and Sabina Stephenson, was born in Keosauqua, Van Buren county, Iowa, December 19, 1842. Was united in marriage to David Mitchell, March 21, 1862, and to this union were born eight children, five sons and three daughters; of these one son and two daughters have preceded her to the better land. She was baptized into Christ in 1885 and has ever since been a faithful member of the Church of Christ. Her death occurred at the home in Madison township, Clarke county, April 25, 1900, at the age of 57 years, 5 months and 6 days. The funeral services were at the Union Chapel, conducted by Rev. W. W. Wharton of the Murray Christian church. Her neighborhood has lost a valuable member in her death.
